Strengthening Communities Through Mentoring: one relationship at a time

Ferndale High School – December 2025

Mentor Coordinator Report

Stories & Quotes To Share:
December was fast and furious.  We only had 14 days of school this month.  We had a few new matches start, and really hit it off.  One of the new mentees said “She is so easy to talk to.  I wish I had signed up for this program when I was a freshman.  Everyone should join this program.”

At times mentors ask if they are making a difference- the answer is YES!  Our mentors do so much for our students.  I love seeing the difference in the students after they have met with their mentor.  The benefits of having a mentor are endless.  Confidence and ability to talk to others are just some of the changes I have seen our mentors make.

Highlights:
On December 5th we had a Cookie Decorating Party in the library during our Extended Eagle Time. We had over 30 mentees and mentors attend along with some of their friends. It was 45 minutes of chaotic fun. Some of the kids did a fantastic job decorating their cookies. It was a nice time to just talk and connect with others in the program. I really appreciated all the mentors who donated cookies, frosting and sprinkles. It was amazing!
The school also had hallway decorations up for Christmas. It was very festive and fun to walk the halls the past week.
