Veronica is the first member of her family to make plans to attend college. She felt confused about the process and wanted a mentor to guide her. “It helps to have an example… not because you are failing in life or because you’re alone, but because you need guidance and someone to be there for you.” Veronica’s advice to mentors is “Don’t be too adult, don’t be the parent or the judge. Guide us, and help us face our own problems. My parents are very grateful for the help my mentor gave me and I got a better grip on what I want for my future, thanks to her.”
