Mentor Coordinator Report

Stories & Quotes To Share:
Helping Students Thrive
Mentors find it incredibly rewarding to see their mentees grow. One dedicated mentor has been intentional in helping her freshman mentee develop strong planning and organizational skills to stay on top of her schoolwork. Together, they review her schedule, identifying the best times for homework and reading for her English class. As a result, the mentee’s performance has significantly improved this semester. She frequently stops by my office to share her successes on assignments and tests, demonstrating how the guidance and strategic planning with her mentor is making a meaningful impact on her grades.
A Strong and Caring Bond
A longtime mentor shared with me that she and her husband had undergone numerous surgeries in recent years and were starting to consider moving closer to family. Her youngest son, especially, had expressed concern that they might need more support in the next couple years. However, the mentor firmly stated that she couldn’t move until her mentee graduates next year. When she said that we both teared up knowing how much this match means to each other.
Teachable moments
While walking through the halls, a mentor and her mentee noticed some spilled pineapple from lunch. Seizing the opportunity to set an example, the mentor decided they should clean it up so no one would slip on it. They stopped by my office for tissues so they could clean up the mess, demonstrating to the mentee stewardship and care for our school and the importance of doing the right thing.
