Strengthening Communities Through Mentoring: one relationship at a time

Ferndale High School – February 2025

Mentor Coordinator Report

Stories & Quotes To Share:

February flew by in a flurry of snow and fun! We navigated four snow days, enjoyed an early release, and took advantage of a well-deserved three-day weekend. Adding to the excitement, Kindness Week, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, brought a delightful array of activities to our school.

The last two weeks of February were however, incredibly challenging. We faced the profound loss of two of our students, a tragedy that has deeply impacted our entire school community.

Highlights:

During this difficult time, I’ve witnessed incredible strength and compassion. The Mobile Response Team provided crucial support, and our staff demonstrated unwavering dedication to our students. I was deeply touched by the way our students, particularly our mentees, supported each other and our staff during this period.

Our mentor program has been a source of strength, with mentors offering vital support to their students and to me. These acts of kindness and support have offered a glimmer of hope amidst the sadness, reminding us of the powerful impact of our program in cultivating caring individuals.
