Strengthening Communities Through Mentoring: one relationship at a time

Ferndale High School – October 2025

Mentor Coordinator Report

Stories & Quotes To Share:

Life After High School

October was a good month. We are settling in and enjoying
the time with our mentors. We have 12 seniors in the program
and quite a few of the matches are working on life after high
school. Mentors are helping the students navigate college,
working or joining the military. Students have told me how
much they appreciate this valuable help. “Life after high
school is so intimidating, I am glad my mentor is helping me
with this”

Another student said she was grateful her mentor helped her
set up and attend a meeting with Mrs. Tanis, the
career/college counselor in the building. “ I am so glad my
mentor made this happen, it wasn’t as scary with her with me.”

Mentor Equipping

Three of the mentors went to the Mentor Equipping at LMS
this month and learned a lot. They felt they could help their
senior a little more.

Highlights:
On October 14 th we had another New Mentor Orientation
where 8 people attended. It has been so encouraging to see
so many people from the community show interest in BTO. On
October 21 st we had an Open House at FHS and talked to many
community members about the program, 3 students signed up
for the program that night. I love that Be The One is
becoming so well known around school and the community.

Some of our matches colored wooden pumpkins this month,
love having them on display in the library. It was also
Homecoming this month and many of our students had a great
time at the game and the dance- they loved sharing pictures
with their mentors.
We added 11 new matches this month.
