Evan was a withdrawn 7th grader and new to Lynden when he was introduced to Be The One and matched with his mentor, Randy. Now a graduating senior, Evan reflects on how Randy has made an impact on him. As a quiet person by nature, he shared, “It’s been a huge help to have someone to talk to. It’s really nice to talk to someone who will listen and give feedback on things. I can get things off my chest. I know he will listen and give me options. The two of them spent time over the years playing games and walking around campus, talking about life. Randy encouraged Evan to develop his skills in music production as an important hobby. Now they are looking at various apprenticeship programs for Evan to pursue after graduation and are planning to stay in touch.
