Cherie met her mentor, Jasmin, in middle school, and they continued meeting in person this year at the high school. She needed someone to talk to that she could trust, and that motivated her to request a mentor. They enjoy talking, playing card games, and walking around campus together when they meet each week. Cherie is a shy person, but mentoring has helped her be a bit more outgoing. “I can talk to Jasmin, and now I can also talk more to other people and put myself out there.” She finds school stressful and difficult, but seeing Jasmin always cheers her up. Cherie wants to keep meeting with Jasmin next year because “it’s helpful and fun.”
