Strengthening Communities Through Mentoring: one relationship at a time

Lynden Christian- February 2025

Mentor Coordinator Report

Stories & Quotes To Share:

I first met the student who recently started a new match about two years ago.  We met, chatted about the program, and she decided that it wasn’t the time for her.  Fast forward to this school year, and her circumstances changed, and she was interested in possibly having a mentor.  She was looking for just a bit of extra support as she navigated the changes in her life personally and as a student about to transition to her next phase of life.  When making this match I felt like both being emotionally intelligent and good conversationalists they would have immediate chemistry, and low and behold both thoroughly enjoyed meeting with each other and look forward to meeting through the end of the school year!

Highlights:
The LC elementary school principal sent out his Principal Newsletter this week and he said, “Do you ever feel like you live inside of a snow globe? One minute everything is calm and quiet and the next your whole world has changed unexpectedly. That was the month of February.” His thought resonated for me as coordinator at LC. We had assemblies, planned no school days, snow days, sickness, and a short month on top of it all!

The future of Be The One at Lynden Christian has become abundantly clear over the last several months. While it is time to transition we also saw a new match start this month which is always exciting.
